Who We Are
The Equest Center for Therapeutic Riding, Inc. is a nonprofit 501(c)3 charity. Your support enables our center to provide physical, mental and emotional benefits to 185 individuals with disabilities each week on a year-round basis. All donations are tax-deductible.
As a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, Equest Center relies on financial and in-kind contributions to support our programs. Without continued financial support, this program would not exist. Tax-deductible cash donations as well as in-kind donations are needed to help defer our expenses, provide shoes and feed for horses, buy adaptive equipment for our special riders as well as help maintain the facility. Your cash donation will provide special needs individuals the opportunity to receive this exceptional form of therapy. Won’t you join in making miracles happen for our special equestrians?
ANNUAL FUND AND IN-KIND DONATIONS
Additionally, Equest Center relies on annual and in-kind gifts to support our programs and needs for the organization. Donors can donate equipment to support the program including tack, horses, and tractors, or give directly to our annual campaign.
It is particularly meaningful to all of us at Equest Center when our program is chosen as a symbol of love and remembrance for someone who has passed away. As a token of respect for loved ones, consider making a donation to our program to continue their legacy by helping someone with special needs. A letter acknowledging the donation will be sent to the family telling them of your generosity and kindness.
Another way to support the long-term future of our organization is to give a planned gift. By calling, Kathy Ryan, Executive Director, at 616-866-3066, we can discuss the many ways donors can create a legacy at Equest Center for Therapeutic Riding.

JOINING HANDS TO HELP OUR COMMUNITY
Rider Sponsorship Program
Over the past 26 years Equest has touched the lives of hundreds of special needs individuals. Equest is acutely aware of the many medical bills and financial hardships our families experience on a regular basis. We’ve worked tirelessly to keep our riding costs down through fundraisers, grants and contributions. We’re very proud of the fact that since Equest opened its’ doors the cost of therapeutic riding has only increased 1 time. In spite of this, and especially in light of the current economic climate in our country, many of our riders’ families still struggle and look to Equest’s sponsorship program for help. Equest has never turned away anyone due to the inability to pay. Instead, we have sought out businesses and individuals who want to make a difference in our community and have a tender heart for those with disabilities. We’ve asked them to participate by underwriting a full or partial scholarship for one of our special needs riders. While this program has been quite successful, we need to enlarge it, as the current need is greater that our present resources. Can you or your business help? Your donation could change a child’s destiny. If you are in doubt, we invite to visit our center and see FIRST HAND therapeutic riding in action. Talk to the riders, volunteers and parents. Their stories will touch you beyond belief!
