This annual fundraising event will draw more than 350 distinguished guests from the greater Grand Rapids community. Funds raised at Equest’s Horsin’ Around at the Derby for Equest’s Riders will be used in the form of scholarships to families in need of financial support for therapy sessions and to purchase materials, equipment and supplies to run the program.

Equest Center for Therapeutic Riding has had the distinct pleasure of serving physically, mentally, and socially/emotionally challenged individuals since 1990. We have had the honor of witnessing many miraculous moments through our unique equine-based therapy that integrates academic, social and physical skills using the horse as a catalyst.

To individuals with disabilities, horseback riding takes them into a new, unexplored world, which provides a sense of independence and freedom that defies their disabilities. They are given an opportunity to escape their braces, crutches, wheelchairs, and disabilities by replacing them with the gentle gait of a well-trained horse.

Equest Center for Therapeutic Riding is acutely aware of the many medical bills and financial hardships our families experience on a regular basis. We’ve worked tirelessly to keep our riding costs down and have made a firm commitment to never turn anyone away due to an inability to pay for services.
